HSC's brands and their development

HSC established Smokefree as its first message/brand in 1990 (Lifespan Smokefree being the first version with the current Smokefree logo replacing it in 1998).

Auahi Kore started life as a translation of Smokefree in 1993 and become a fully-fledged programme in 1997 and brand in 1998 (at the same time as the new Smokefree brand was developed).

SunSmart followed in 1993.

In 1994 Street-Skills was developed, which became Bike Wise in 2000. Since 30 June 2007 Bike Wise has been promoted by the New Zealand Transport Agency.

In March 2007, HSC’s problem gambling programme and brand were developed. Following feedback from the sector this became the Choice Not Chance brand in 2011.

Between May 2007 and 2009, Feeding our Futures represented HSC’s nutrition and physical activity work. In 2011, the Breakfast-eaters strapline was developed.

In 2011, HSC developed a Smokefree/Auahi Kore Aotearoa/New Zealand 2025 logo to support the government’s commitment to achieving a Smokefree/Auahi Kore New Zealand by 2025.
