Please read the following if you are seeking sponsorship
On occasion HSC uses sponsorship to help achieve our objectives but they play only a very small part in the work the HSC carries out. As a general rule, HSC does not sponsor individuals, clubs, schools, local or regional organisations or teams, overseas travel, the purchase of equipment or capital assets or events or activities that are happening within three months of the request.
The Smokefree/Auahi Kore team's focus is to reduce the burden of tobacco on Māori and Pacific people with a particular focus on reducing the number of Māori and Pacific youth that take up smoking.
Events, activities or organisations we partner with have the following types of characteristics. They:
are nationally attended
have large numbers of young M?ori and Pacific, or people who influence this group (their peers or family), participating or attending
support our communications themes
have a focus on making environments smokefree.
Smokefree and Auahi Kore signage is often seen at events. However, this does not mean the event is 'sponsored' by HSC. The signage reflects the kaupapa (philosophy) of the event/organisers and is part of a growing movement among communities to reject tobacco use. It is very rare that HSC pays to have signage displayed - the organisers do it because they want to promote a healthy environment and HSC, or more often a local Public Health Unit, supports this by providing the signage.
The work of the Smokefree/Auahi Kore Schools Group for the next 3-5 years is focused on national education organisations as a way to support them to support schools.
